For the Love of Yoga
What is the For the Love of Yoga mentorship program?
For the Love of Yoga is a 3-month mentorship to help cultivate an approach to practice that fosters curiosity, creativity, & self-reflection. It is not about getting 'answers' to all of your yoga questions, rather, it’s about developing modes of inquiry, inspiring personal accountability, & ultimately uncovering the diversity of lessons your yoga practice has to offer.
This mentorship is for you if:
You are fascinated by Iyengar Yoga;
You want to immerse yourself in the practice;
You are looking to refine your understanding and practice of asana;
You wish to cultivate a more personal relationship with your yoga practice;
You are ready to explore the broader aspects of yoga, both on & off the mat; &
You attend Studio Po classes regularly at Level 2 or above.
What are the various elements of the program?
Orientation: Thursday September 5th, 5:30 pm - 7:15 pm. An opportunity to ask questions and review the various elements involved in the mentorship.
Asana classes: 2-3 per week, at least one of which is with Stephanie. Mentees can also attend extra classes as long as attendance does not interfere with the consistency of their independent, self-directed practice.
Independent practice: Minimum of 3 self-directed practices per week. Ideally, once a week at the studio (Wednesday mornings) and 2 or more practices at home.
Level 3 Workshops: Deconstructing Asana (September 22nd & November 24th)
Weekly check-in (30 minutes): Discuss with Stephanie your practice plans, goals, & questions either in person or by phone. Time & dates to be coordinated.
Geek-out sessions: These 12 sessions (Thursdays, 5:30 - 7:15 pm, specific dates TBA) are a key component of the mentorship. This is where we will tackle topics like understanding why not just how in asana, maintaining motivation & inspiration in practice, sequencing, linking, symbolism of asana, yoga philosophy, working effectively with props, and more! We will watch videos, do readings, & share personal reflections. There will be homework.
Bonus Workshops: Fall Sadhana (September 9th - 13th); How to Practice at Home (November 10th); Mentees are not charged for these workshops but invited to participate if their schedules permit. Mentees can also register for additional 2-hour workshops at a reduced rate (10% discount).
Personalized feedback: Nearing the end of the mentorship, mentees will participate in a formal & timed practice. Afterwards, each will receive personalized feedback to help direct their personal practices moving forward.
What is the breakdown of costs?
To register for this mentorship, a one time, up-front payment of $960 +HST will be required no later than September 5th, 2019.
Below is the cost breakdown. Please note that once you commit to the program, there will be no refunds, partial or otherwise.
$360 +HST: 3 months of unlimited asana classes (September, October, & November)
$120 +HST: Deconstructing Asana workshops (September & November)
$480 +HST: 12 Thursday evening geek-out sessions
Free: Unlimited asana classes for the month of December
Free: Weekly, one on one, check-in (30 minutes)
Free: Fall Sadhana, a 5-day early morning intensive
Free: How to Practice at Home Workshop
10% discount on all 2-hour workshops occuring during the mentorship
So... while the registration fee is $960 +HST, the total value is upward of $1370, which is a savings of more than $400!!
