Specialized Support & Study

For students pursuing individualized Iyengar Yoga Therapy or Mentorship

Teacher Mentoring

Unlike a standard teacher training, mentoring in the Iyengar tradition is a shared journey between student and mentor, involving observation, refinement, study, and ongoing support.

As an apprentice, you’ll explore the nuances of Iyengar Yoga in a way that is both challenging and deeply personal, including:

  • Careful observation of alignment and technique

  • Guided refinement of your own practice and teaching skills

  • Study of yoga philosophy and methodology

  • Ongoing discussion and feedback tailored to your growth

Apprentices are expected to already attend local classes at Po Toronto.

Iyengar Yoga Therapy

Studio Po offers Iyengar Yoga Therapy in our Toronto studio, through our Modified Practices (MP) program.

This program provides individualized support for students navigating specific physical or mental health concerns, such as back pain, hypertension, digestive issues, or anxiety.

In small-group or one-to-one settings, students are guided through a practice carefully adapted to their current condition and capacity. For many, this becomes a starting point that gradually leads to a more independent practice or a transition into regular classes.

Before joining, students complete a brief intake form to help us understand their needs and ensure that accommodations are safe and effective.

Coming up

Eight Thursdays, 15 October to 10 December

Deborah Wolk teaches an online series on the anatomy of back issues and scoliosis, open to yoga teachers and to people who live with a spinal condition and want to understand how it works. It's study rather than treatment, and separate from the therapy above.
