How to Prepare

for your first Iyengar Yoga class

Arrive early.

Plan to arrive 10 minutes before class to check in, choose your spot, and settle in.

Wear comfortable clothing.

This allows you to move freely. Leggings or shorts are ideal; they help us see alignment clearly so we can guide you effectively.

Avoid perfumes and essential oils.

Many students are sensitive to scents. Please keep the practice space fragrance-free.

Props & mats are provided.

There’s no need to bring anything except yourself. We’ll supply everything you need for class.

Share any injuries or conditions.

Let your teacher know of any health conditions you are dealing with. This helps us offer you thoughtful adaptations and keep your practice safe and supportive.

Avoid eating right before class.

Iyengar Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach – no more than a small snack an hour before class is advised.

Drinking Water

Water bottles aren’t permitted on the mat but you are welcome to keep your bottles in the coat area and access it whenever needed. We also have a water fountain, for your convenience.
